Yahoo hit by Worst Hack Attack ever. 500 million users affected

Yahoo was hacked and its 500 million user accounts were affected.

Hackers swiped personal information associated with at least a half billion Yahoo accounts, the internet giant said Thursday, marking the biggest data breach in history.

The hack, which took place in 2014, revealed names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and, in some cases, security questions and answers, Yahoo said in a press release. Encrypted passwords, which are jumbled so only a person with the right passcode can read them, were also taken.

The internet pioneer, which is in the process of selling itself to Verizon, said it's "working closely" with law enforcement. It called the hackers a "state-sponsored actor," though it didn't identify a country behind the breach.

Yahoo urged users to change their passwords if they haven't since 2014. The company has 1 billion monthly active users for all its internet services, which span finance, online shopping and fantasy football. Its mail service alone has about 225 million monthly active users, Yahoo told CNET in June.

The hack serves as a reminder of how widespread hacking is and highlights the vulnerability of passwords. Cybersecurity specialists recommend using a different password for each account you have on the internet. Other experts are working on alternatives to passwords, such as biometrics like your fingerprint or retina.

"Cybercriminals know that consumers use the same passwords across websites and applications, which is why these millions of leaked password credentials are so useful for perpetuating fraud," said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance, an organization that vets the security of password alternatives. "We need to take that ability away from criminals, and the only way to do that is to stop relying on passwords altogether."

Verizon, which is paying $4.83 billion for Yahoo, said it was notified of the massive breach within the last two days. The telecommunications giant had "limited information and understanding of the impact," according to a statement.

"We will evaluate, as the investigation continues, through the lens of overall Verizon interests, including consumers, customers, shareholders and related communities," Verizon said.

Philippines – Samsung releases a new budget phone to go against the likes of Xiaomi, Huawei, and OPPO: the Samsung Galaxy M20.

The phone became available exclusively on online shops Lazada, Shopee, Argomall, Abenson, and MemoXpress on Wednesday, March 6. TITLE: LIES+LDR (A.K.A THE BULLDOG LOVER, if you know what I mean)

Hello everyone, so I just want to share a story. My very own story about love, commitment, and unfortunately failures. You all know me, and yes I am MARRIED and I was happy. Was happy. Here's how it started..

Years ago, I had an ex that really broke my heart. In the midst of pain, I prayed for the perfect time to meet that one perfect guy I had a construct of in my mind--l always tell myself: "Lord, alam ko po I deserve more. A guy who will love me as much as I do and a guy kwho will respect me."

Then....

2013: I was a 3rd year college student that time when I met this guy, a friend of a friend. He is my dream guy actually; maputi, matangkad, most especially sweet at maeffort. That time hindi pa siya nagmigrate/nagwowork sa USA, kasi waiting pa sila sa visa nila. Everything went well with our relationship. We loved each other so bad na parang sakanya nalang umikot mundo ko.

FEB 2014: Alis na nila going to Alaska, USA kasama ang parents niya. We tried LDR and yes it worked sa amin kasi nagrreach out kami pareho. He was a great partner kahit na malayo siya. He took time in his busy everyday life to at least talk to me. He worked there, nagipon pang bili ng ticket para makapagbakasyon siya sa pinas. At uuwi daw siya "FOR ME. "

OCT 2014: Umuwi siya ng pinas at nagbakasyon hanggang Jan. 2015. Everything was fine, sobrang saya. May internship ako during the months he was here in the PH and as a boyfriend sinusundo niya ako at nagddiner almost every day, minsan binabaunan pa ko ng food. Actually, we see each other EVERY SINGLE DAY. Lahat ng alis niya at tropa niya sinasama niya ako. His friends became my friends. Sobrang effort, sweet at caring. Araw araw mas nakilala namin ang isa't isa at ramdam namin na our love went deeper as days pass by. Sobrang perfect ng relasyon namin. Eto yung panahong nakaramdam ako na "Lord, sana siya na." Lahat ng kaibigan ko kilala siya, na alam lahat ng kaibigan ko na sobrang pinagmamalaki ko siya.

JAN 2015: Bumalik na siya sa AK. Kahit hindi ko hiniling at kahit di ako nagdemand, he promised na uuwi siya sa April 2015 for my graduation, something me and my parents were waiting for. Hanggang sa nagipon siya para nga makabili ng ticket.

APRIL 2015: 3 days before graduation ko, nakauwi na siya and sa part ko sobrang effort kasi umuwi pa siya para lang don. Sobrang okay naman kasi talaga kami. Graduation gift niya sakin is trip to El Nido,l kasama guy friend niya. And yes it was a memorable trip for us. One of the best! That time we realized we wanted to travel together as much as we can.

MAY 2015: He went back to AK and yes, we have a strong relationship na sobrang proud ako sakanya sa lahat ng ginagawa niya maski little efforts.

JULY 2015: had a work pero dahil alam ko uuwi siya sa october, so nagplan ako magresign bago siya umuwi kasi nirequest niya.

OCT-JAN 2016: nagbakasyon siya ulit sa pinas. Travel together kung saan saan na never ako gumastos. And an unexpected news and an unexpected "BLESSING" came nung pumasok ang January 2016 samin. I was pregnant with little ball of sunshine, Sophia. He took responsibility sa baby namin, a father he'll be.

JAN 2016: Bumalik sa AK para magwork and makapagipon at makapagprovide. And thankful ako that time kasi he was very responsible, more than I asked.

APRIL 2016: Umuwi siya para magpakasal kami, I took a vow to spend the rest of my life serving the man I love. He did the same. (NAGPAKASAL ako sa lalaki na akala ko rerespetuhin ako)

Hanggang sa nanganak na ako. Her name is Sophia, a bouncing baby girl na sobrang angel-like. Everyone was happy to see her. Esp. my family, they treated my sophia as our family's "GREATEST BLESSING." I did my best as a mom, I breastfed my child kahit sobrang hirap. Pero emotionally hindi ako nahirapan kasi andyan family ko sa tabi ko. Plus, I have a responsible husband behind me.

OCT 2016: Nakauwi ulit siya sa pinas 2 months na baby namin non. And yes it was perfect. I had a complete and happy family.

JAN 2017: He came back sa AK. Still, he is responsible as ever so wala akong problema. And when I say responsible, I'm referring to him not only supporting our baby but also taking time in seeing how we were doing--everyday.

OCT 2017: 1 year old na baby namin kaya we travel together sa Boracay, Batanes, and Hongkong. We were happy. Almost "PERFECT" family that time.

HANGGANG SA 2018 na pala magbabago ang lahat.

JAN 2018 - Bumalik siya sa AK to work again. We we're very okay as partners; no problems, no issues. But ang parents niya lumipat na sa ibang state sa US for some reason.

But then a certain MAGGIE MAE DE JESUS (my husband's alleged workmate) who is also from AK came in our lives. This is where it started. She knew that the person she was then flirting with was married and with a daughter, but then nadala siguro siya kasi ang gwapo ng asawa ko. Haha. Kidding aside, I didn't have any clue that they were having an affair guised as something they treated as a relationship but one bred with so much immorality and illegality to say the least. It has been going on since April of 2018. I was so stupid all this time na ngayon ko lang nalaman. Buti nalang may mga taong nagmagandang loob na sabihin sakin lahat ng katotohanan. To nat: Almost a year mo na pala akong niloloko, ang sagot mo sakin kasi "malayo." Kinaya naman natin dati bakit ngayon kapa bumigay? Maling mali na sinamba ko yung pinakita mo sakin na pagmamahal.

Ngayon I am trying to move on, so to all my friends na kinamusta ako these past few days, thank you. Sorry I didn't reply. Sorry I ignored everyone because this is very hard for me. This is one of those trying times where I'd rather be with family and a few closest friends around me. I wanted to give up but I know I shouldn't kasi I have my daughter with me, more than enough reason to get back up.. Ngayon I am trying to move on, so to all my friends/kakilala na kinamusta ako this past few days. Thank you. Naappreciate ko yun lahat. Thank you sa family ko na kahit alam ko dismayado sila na after ko grumaduate di man lang ako nakabawi sakanila. THANK YOU GUYS. BUT I'M OKAY, I AM TRYING TO BE OKAY.

Xiaomi Launches Mi A2 - Price, Specs and Performance

Xiaomi launches new phone, the Mi A2 which packed with powerful specs like Snapdragon 660 processor and up to 6GB Ram.

MADRID, Spain – The Chinese smartphone industry's push into Western markets got another boost on Tuesday, July 24, as Spanish capital, Madrid, hosted the global launch of Xiaomi's newest phones: the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite. These two phones are the successor to last year's successful Mi A1, one of the best-selling phones globally last year.

Xiaomi's Mi A family of phones are Android One phones. They carry Google's stock, skin-free version of its mobile operating system. Most Android phones are skinned with a phone maker's own take on Android. Xiaomi has MIUI. Samsung has Samsung Experience. Huawei has EMUI. Sometimes, these skins can become unwieldy, and add some extra workload for the phone – which is why some users prefer a stock version.

Specs

The Mi A2 features an aluminum unibody, a Snapdragon 660 processor, up to 6GB RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, dual rear cameras (20MP+12MP), 20MP front camera, USB-C, 5.99-inch full-HD+ 18:9 screen, and 3,010 mAh battery. Xiaomi touts the camera's larger-than-usual pixel size that make for brighter photos, and better lowlight performance.

The cameras, both front and rear, are also touted to have the ability to better separate a human subject from the background, through AI-assisted segmentation, said to be desirable in portrait photography.

The Mi A2 is priced at P14,990 (4GB RAM, 64GB storage) and P17,490 (6GB, 128GB storage). No Philippine release date has been specified.

The A2 Lite features a 5.84-inch 19:9 full HD screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor (the original A1's processor), 12MP+5MP dual rear cameras, a 5MP front camera, a 4,000 mAh battery, and micro-USB. Its storage tops out at 64GB and RAM at 4GB. A key difference some people might want to know: the Mi A2 has a headphone jack while the Lite doesn't. Both phones come in black, blue, and gold.

The Mi A2 Lite is priced at P9,990 (3GB RAM, 32GB storage) and P11,990 (4GB RAM, 64GB storage). No Philippine release date has been specified as well.

Marvel Comics legend Creator Stan Lee dead at 95

Stan Lee, creator of some of the most enduring characters and stories from Marvel Comics, has died at the age of 95.

The legendary Marvel Comic creator died November 12, 2018 in California.

The news is confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, following up on earlier confirmation, via Lee's daughter, from TMZ. The earlier report indicated that an ambulance was dispatched to his home in California's Hollywood Hills on Monday morning. Lee later died at the nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Lee was the creator of dozens of now-iconic comic-book heroes, including Spider-Man, X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and Black Panther.

All of those characters have since been adapted into hugely popular, budget-busting films, most of which were made after entertainment giant Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion in 2009.

In an essay remembering Lee posted Monday afternoon, Marvel and Disney said they "salute the life and career of Stan Lee and offer their undying gratitude for his unmatchable accomplishments within their halls. Every time you open a Marvel comic, Stan will be there."

Robert Iger, Disney chairman and CEO, said in the essay that "Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain, and to connect. The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart."

Lee's work creating characters for Marvel spanned the 1960s and into the early 1970s. But Lee was still involved with the production of the films based on his comics, and regularly made brief, tongue-in-cheek cameos within the movies.

He became known for imbuing in his heroes the sort of flaws that were rarely visible among other comic-book protagonists, such as jealousy, pride and even financial constraints.

His voice often extended beyond the comic panel, as well, notably in his monthly "Stan's Soapbox" column.
